June 11-Prague Day 2 by Sasha Deming, Elizabeth Deming and Haeli Paris

Old town Prague is gorgeous and really historic, but the shops are a little different. We're told that some of them may even be run by the Russian mafia. When in Prague or Praha for future reference do not take photos with street performers and pay them nothing. A few girls and I did this and paid him 2 Czech crowns and he started freaking out and cursing at us.
Prague is really beautiful and the buildings are all really old. Czech food is good but it gets to be a bit much after a few courses. We tried a traditional meal with steak, a sweet gravy, and dumplings.
While crossing the Charles Bridge, we stopped to take pictures in front of statues; one of them is lucky if you rub it. In a line we all rubbed the ginormous statue. People took scenic photos of the river, which happens to be really high right now. The astronomical clock is in Old Town, and is this historical paradigm of antique technology and religious symbolism. Every hour from 9 am to 9 pm everyone gather to watch a visual display, the procession of the Twelve Apostles. Near the Rio Drive of Old Town Prague we stood by and saw the exact balcony in which Hitler stood during the take over of Prague.
After all of the days festivities in Old Town Prague we were ready to go to our matches against the Czech Junior National team as well as a Czech club team. Our older girls team, kept up with them in the first two games, but unfortunately lost the pace in the next two. Then the younger team did well too, but same sort of situation. The most interesting part was playing a team that doesn't speak English, so you never know what set they are calling! It was funny walking around town in our new bright NEON pink shirts and getting all these weird stares from people, we looked like a giant family on vacation in Disneyland by wearing the same shirts so we wouldn't get lost.
Dinner at this Italian restaurant after the match was delicious too, we had bread for an appetizer, salad next, then a spaghetti with marinara for an entree as well as a variety of pizzas! Now back at the hotel we are all passing out in our beds so we can get up again tomorrow for another tour.
